Dental Implants Q & A

What are dental implants?

Dental implants consist of titanium posts that Drs. Christensen and Sachdeva implant under your gums and into your jawbone to hold natural-looking and feeling replacement teeth in place.

What is the dental implant procedure?

Ramona Family Dentistry uses the cost-effective All-on-4 dental implant system to provide you with a sturdy, natural-looking smile. Drs. Christensen and Sachdeva begin the procedure by implanting one post on each arch under your gums and into your jawbone.

Your gums then need to heal after this procedure. This process, called osseointegration, takes a few weeks. Osseointegration enables your implant and jawbone to grow together and form a sturdy, long-lasting foundation for your replacement teeth.

Once the osseointegration process completes, you return to Ramona Family Dentistry so that Drs. Christensen and Sachdeva can uncover the posts. They then place a small connector, called an abutment, just above your gum line on your dental implant.

At that point, Drs. Christensen and Sachdeva use the CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) to create your crowns. CEREC enables Drs. Christensen and Sachdeva to place your dental implants in one visit, instead of having to wait for a dental lab to create your crowns, as this often adds weeks and additional appointments to your dental implant procedure.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Dental implants not only improve the health of your mouth, this procedure also betters your general health. Some of the more common problems associated with missing teeth include chewing problems, additional tooth loss, and lower self-esteem.

Dental implants are strong, stable, and built to last. Dental implants look, feel, fit, and function like natural teeth and allow you to eat whatever you want. With proper placement and care, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Dental implants never decay and protect your jaw bone from deterioration by filling empty spaces left from missing teeth.

Dental implants improve your appearance, confidence, and ability to participate in an active lifestyle. Unlike dentures, dental implants don’t slip, click, or sag.

If you have difficulty chewing, slurred or distorted speech, or a face that looks aged or “collapsed” because of missing teeth, call or make an appointment online today with Drs. Christensen and Sachdeva at Ramona Family Dentistry for dental implants.
